More on the Earth Charter Monument POETRY CORNER TITLE: Earth Covenant AUTHOR: Nathalie Marshall COUNTRY: USA Because we are sentient beings capable of inspired thought, Because we are ingenious beings capable of myriad designs, Because we are empathetic beings capable of deep understanding, Because we are evolving beings capable of growth and healing; Therefore: We know how to put our highest thought into purposeful action, We know how to design our lives in harmony with our global home, We know how to honor other species by understanding their ways and habitats, We know how to heal others as well as ourselves by informed and sensitive action; And so by this Earth Covenant: Always we shall love and cherish our fragile, life-giving planet Earth, Always we shall seek ideas for growth that foster creative and peaceful life, Always we shall value others by accepting their chosen ways of life, Always we shall exalt all living things and consider life itself a sacred trust.
